HEADER - DO NOT TOUCH

Recap of the Week

And another week gone....

It seems like we were never on summer holiday, we are right back in the swing of things. This week we picked up the pace in math by working on classifying numbers. Students learned a new grade 6 concept- prime and composite numbers. Students should feel pretty comfortable now with these terms. I did post some games to practise at home earlier this weekend. Hopefully, my students have had a chance to work on these. Tomorrow we will do mini assessment to see our understanding. We will continue with the rest of the week looking at multiples and factors with patterns in a 100 chart.

In language- we wrapped up our learning on Samaritans on the Digital Road. Students are now aware of the expectations of using technology and their role as Samaritans in the digital world. Students participated in 5 days of intensive lesson on navigating the digital road. This week, students will take what they have learned an create either a digital comic strip, a game cover or a poster (all digital) about online safety. This past friday, we had another restorative circle, we read the book Seven Grandfather Teachings. Students were introduced to 7 teachings as well as the animal that correlates with the teachings. Talk to your child about which animal and teaching really stuck with them.

We have a relatively quiet week coming up. On Tuesday, our afternoon class with host some friends from Australia who are here learning about Deep Learning. They will be visiting our classroom as well as watching us collaborate with our grade 2
classes. Students will have the opportunity to ask our visitors questions about Australia. We continue to focus on our Gospel Value of Hope and Character (6 C's)

This coming Friday, we will host our first St. B mass of the school year over at the church at 9:30. All are welcome to join.

I hope you are enjoying reading about our week on the blog. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I encouraged parents to sign up for REMIND app so I can be in touch with you more often. As of now, I only have 9 parents following. I would love to see all parents following through text or email.

I wish you a great week!
