HEADER - DO NOT TOUCH

Another Week

It's hard to believe how quickly time is flying by. We Thanksgiving behind us, the weather still calls us outside. We are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful city and to watch the trees as they change into their beautiful colours.

This week we shifted our math thinking to Probability. Two main areas students will be working with is experimental probability and theoretical probability. We have been reviewing experimental probability by coding some simple rock, paper, and scissors game using the microbits. We are slowly going to shift our thinking to what is theoretical probability and how can we find out theoretical probability.

To read more about what students are learning about with probability click here. To read about using a fraction to represent a probability click here.

In Literacy, our focus has been on making connections while reading. Our writing focus has been on descriptive language. We have done a lot of work around the colours we see outside during this time of year. We will now shift our theme to Halloween while students begin to write scary stories.

On another note, this past week, we had the opportunity to participate in our very first Explore By the Seat of Your Pants experience @ebtsoyp. We had the opportunity to be part of a live chat with Aaron Yazzie (Engineer for NASA) as he spoke about the work he is doing on the Mars 2020 mission. Ask your child about this. Aaron Yazzie was part of #SecretPath week where awareness for ReconciliACTION was brought to the forefront.

As you can see, there is a lot going on in grade 6. Please stay tuned to twitter to get more up-to-date events happening.

Have a great week
