HEADER - DO NOT TOUCH

First Week DONE!

Where did the time go? We had a very jammed pack first week back with assemblies, routines, and meet the teacher night. We are happy to say that this week went by very quickly and we accomplished so much already!

We began grade 6 with getting to know each other. We have some new friends in our class so we thought it would be appropriate to get to know each other a little. We had many discussions about routines and expectations in our classroom. We learned about our "safe" -calm zone and had the opportunity to talk about the zones of regulation. We also had some great ideas to add to the calm zone bucket (ask your child to share about these).  We ended by making calming jars for our classroom as well as the other classrooms in the school and we will deliver them some time this week.

We ended our week with our first Restorative Circle. Our class, as well as Ms. Fyfe's class, have a shared Learning Commons time on Friday mornings during second block. Our hope is to gather our two classes together and to learn about Indigenous Culture and participate in Restorative Circles in order to build classroom community. We then finished the week by writing future letters to ourselves that will be opened on the last day of school.

Again, a big thank you to all parents who came out to our Meet the Teacher night, in the package that came home this weekend there are many forms to be signed and returned. Please remember to sign up for the REMIND app so that I can stay in touch easily.

I wish you a great week ahead!
