HEADER - DO NOT TOUCH

Update

Four weeks until Christmas break!  Sorry that I have not posted in a while, I was off recuperating from minor surgery. I am back now..and will update you on a few things that are happening right now in grade 6.

In Math, students have been working on creating and extending number and geometric patterns using different manipulatives. This week we will finish up patterns by looking at extending patterns using a graph. Take a look at some of the work students have been working on.

In Language, we have been working on sentence structure.  Students received feedback this week on their Halloween stories. The feedback consisted mostly of students using proper sentence format and to incorporate sentence variety. This past week, students focused on subject and predicate, complex and compound sentences, run-on sentences, independent and dependent clauses. This week they will have an opportunity to "BUMP" their work up by taking teacher feedback and improving their writing.

 Grade 6 NEWS!!

St. Bernard will be hosting our 3rd annual Snowflake Sale. The idea behind the snowflake sale is that students bring in some gently used items from home in order to sell at school. The grade 6 students have chosen this fundraiser in order to raise money for WeSchools. All money raised with be donated to our local and global initiative- Hunger and Women’s Empowerment.

At this time, we are asking all families, if you have any gently used items that you may be donating to goodwill, if you could please send them to the school for our snowflake sale which will happen on December 20, 2018. Students can begin bringing in items. We ask that all items be at school by Wednesday December 19, 2018.

We are also looking for some parent volunteers that would be able to help set up on Wednesday December 19, 2018 starting at 2:30pm. If you are able to help out, can you please contact Ms Porcari at the school.

Some items to consider (books, toys, ornaments, crafts, knick- knacks, games, puzzles, gift ideas for mom and dad and wrapping paper, gift bags, bows and gift tags)

Thank you,
The Grade 6 team
